Women in Music

Colouring in sheets that represents women in music and the arts!

As a celebration of Women in music, I was researching ways to teach and draw attention to some of the stars that inspire us.

As I teach some younger students and run a choir club, I often include games and colouring in pages to help us learn the instruments of the orchestra while listening to them play, and other activities that make learning fun and varied.

It was clear in my research that finding pictures of girls and women playing instruments or in an orchestra were more difficult to find, there are fewer representations online, so I got out my ipad and made my own!

These pictures are hand drawn, representing different instruments and stars of now and the recent past to inspire your students to explore different musicians. They are suitable for any child or adult to enjoy colouring, with crayon or pencil. The link will take you to Google Drive where you can download the images.

The musicians I have featured are: saxophonist Jess Gillam, opera singer Leontyne Price, pianist Martha Argerich, and cellist Jacqueline Du Pré. If you search for these musicians on Spotify or your prefered streaming service, you can enjoy listening to them perform while you colour in.

These pages are free to download, and I hope they help your students, clubs, classes or home-ed groups to celebrate some women who have trained and worked hard to deliver some beautiful music for us to enjoy! If you wish to support me and help me to continue offering free resources, you can donate to my “Buy Me a Coffee” using the link below. Thank you for your support, and I hope you enjoy using this resource.
